PALASCAK STUDIO
2025 - 4th SEMESTER

This project was developed as part of a group studio exploring a new underground railway system in Brno, Czech Republic. The initial work focused on the metro line at the city scale, after which each student individually developed one station and its urban context. My work focused on Masná Station, the southernmost station of the proposed line.
Masná Station is located at the intersection of residential, office, and allotment-garden areas, making it an ideal setting for a project that connects transport infrastructure with public space.
The architectural concept is defined by a floating roof that shelters everyday movement—access to platforms, a central café pavilion, and spaces for informal gathering. Pivoting perimeter panels provide protection from noise and weather while maintaining a flexible visual connection to the surroundings. The western façade opens toward an adjacent park, reinforcing the transition between the urban environment and nature.
A key element of the design are the corten steel light wells, which not only bring daylight to the underground platforms—ensuring a pleasant environment with low energy demands—but also extend above ground as playful and social elements within the park. In this way, they activate both the subterranean station and the public space above. Combined with the revitalized surroundings, Masná Station emerges as an open, functional, and socially active focal point of the neighborhood.
